MuslimMatrimonialsNetwork.com is a dating site for marriage-minded Muslims to meet one another. I find that they offer little in the way of the culturally specific needs of their members. On competing websites, there are articles about marriage customs and Islam in general. Here, it’s the same old, same old, which bothers me more because it's a religiously, or at least culturally, specific site. It comes off as less than respectful of diversity.

I'm certainly no expert in Muslim culture, but from the limited knowledge I have there can be great variance in personal religious practices. Following any faith means different things to different people. The signup process doesn’t take the diversity among Muslims into account at all. The dropdown menu for religion is the same as you would see on most sites.

For example, keeping halal is something you'd have to add to your freeform essay. On a site supposedly designed for a major world faith, I find this oversight unacceptable. Obviously, before committing to a paid membership, it would be in everyone’s best interest to verify whether there could be other subscribers of like-minded beliefs to contact further. You may send a “smile” to someone you find interesting for free, for example. There are also e-cards of various themes available.

Again, I must deride a surprising lack of specialized content. Normally, the cards provided are tailored slightly to the individual site market but not here. No special Islamic holidays or special language greetings are given. One bright spot that'll help you get to know this online community better is the message boards, which appear very active and can be perused for free. There's a matchmaking system also available on the site.

If you're encouraged by your efforts then the benefits of upgrading are as follows: live chat, posting to message boards, sending and replying to emails, as well as the possibility of private conversations through instant messages.
