Positive Singles focuses on providing a safe dating community for those living with sexually transmitted diseases or - as they're currently more often referred to by the medical community - sexually transmitted infections. As a dating site, it looks like many others on the market. However, it does ask some special questions in regard to what STI you have that help set it apart from other cookie-cutter dating sites.

The profile quality at PositiveSingles.com is decent. You get the basic rundown of questions you would expect on any dating site. Right off the top, though, you get asked to specify the STD that you suffer from, such as Herpes Type I or II, HIV, chlamydia or thrush. This dating site only works if you’re open about your STD so make sure you’re ready for that commitment before signing up. Other than that, the profile questions run like most other dating sites and the profile quality is about the same, too.

Presentation is a little lacking on Positive Singles. It’s not a slick site like some others you may find out there, but it certainly gets the job done. Still, getting the job done may not be enough to compete with some of the major players in the long run, but, then again, although there are competing sites in this niche, it's specialized enough to probably not feel too much pressure to be overly sleek in design. They've added an STI councilor service, and STI news and blogs to further enhance the sense of community.

There are enough search options to help you make your sorting easy. The only problem is that they're only available to paying members. Free members can sort by age and within a 100-mile radius, but that’s about it. If you want to hand over the money, you can filter through all the options you filled out when you signed up, plus choose a smaller search radius.

It even has a keyword search feature, which is useful for finding those profiles with elusive interests. However, once again, you only get access to said option when you’ve handed over your credit card. Another problem with search features is that the site won’t tell you when a member last logged on until you’ve paid your dues. That makes figuring out the level of activity in your local area difficult.

The site has seen a decline in visitors to its pages in the last couple of years, but they've increased the price nonetheless. Therefore, make sure to look around and run enough searches for people in your area before you make the leap. Positive Singles does offer a sense of community, though, even if its popularity has decreased.
