YahooPersonals.com is one of the most popular personals sites on the net, thanks to linking directly to Yahoo, which is one of the world’s most popular web portals. Yahoo used to have a certain alternative feel to it, being smaller and hipper than its online rivals. Nowadays, after growing success, it seems less nonconformist and more mainstream, but there are always cool diehard fans as well as tons of new folks who keep it their homepage. Perhaps its growth in popularity explains why its simple web personals have increased in price.

Setting up a profile on Yahoo Personals is easy and quick. You can skip steps if you like, but I found even filling out every response barely took five minutes, and the questions asked all seemed relevant to actually meeting someone. I would just note that there was a freeform essay about yourself, but not one about what you were looking for in a partner.

"What you're really paying for on Yahoo Personals is added exposure from the high amount of traffic the site receives."

The area describing your potential match is limited to selecting buttons or using dropdown menus. You can add up to five photos to your profile, too, but other features such as video and voice introductions have been removed. There's still a free personality test. It might provide further evidence of compatibility to other members.

One feature of YahooPersonals that remains impressive is the search engine. It's rather comprehensive, allowing you to select as many or as few criteria as you like at a time. You can search by zip or postal code to within five miles, as well as performing keyword searches. Moreover, you can save searches so you’re not repeatedly setting up the same criteria each time.

You can send a prewritten “icebreaker” for free. You can reply once for free if you receive such a message. However, it's only with a prewritten reply. For free-flowing communication with someone, you need to upgrade to a paid membership to use standard email or send instant messages. Upgrading is more expensive than it used to be. The monthly fee was less costly than other sites were, whereas now it's a rather standard price compared to others on the market.

What you're really paying for on Yahoo Personals is added exposure from the high amount of traffic the site receives. Otherwise, it doesn't offer more than other sites do. In fact, with no chat rooms or message boards, it has less to offer than many other dating sites. An even higher-priced membership offers you advanced matchmaking and access to exclusive profiles from members who, like you, paid extra. Yahoo Personals continues to be popular, but it comes to you for a higher price than it did before despite offering few extra features.

I currently have an active subscription, but will probably not renew. Ultimately, as other sites become more popular, Yahoo Personals lose members & it just doesn t have a large enough clientele to be worth it anymore. Things I don t like: There is no way to tell if a person has opened a message you sent. Many other sites have this feature & it is helpful to see if the person has just re

I ve been a member on and off for years, with no success. The must pay to do anything sucks. Men do not begin to corner the market on ridiculous expectations. The profiles abound with merely average women in the 5 foot to 5 4 range, MUCH rounder than they should be, but insist that a man be at least 6 foot, with an 8-pack and Fabio s features. Fashion magazines are ruining YOUR chances.

Your billing and cancellation policies are one of the worst. There are many customers complaining about problem they faced with Yahoo billing and cancellation.

I agree with the poster who stated the men want models and reject regular gals. Get real! I sure didn t expect that at age 49 looking at men that age and older. I do get a lot of profile views and some notes, but it never seems to go beyond that. There s so much competition to distract your potential dates before you ever get around to meeting for coffee. Pro: Site is easy to negotiate.

The main problem with yahoo personals is that there can be NO communication if one of the people will not pay. Many of the profiles listed are non-paying people so, if you send an email to the people, you have to include your email address or telephone number to get a response. You must remember that you can t do this though unless YOU pay because 80% of the people on the site will not pay.
