Paris is the "City of Love," or so I thought. But now it needs to move to make room for Lovetropolis, which is a dating site that used to be known as SexySinglesDate.com. Under its old name, it was promoted in commercials on major cable channels. I have no idea if this newest incarnation is much different, because I never saw the old site. Still, I can tell you that this site has a very different approach than most competitors in attracting new members.

You cannot access Lovetropolis.com for free. To be clear, even to create a profile you must pay straightaway. As strange as that might sound from a marketing standpoint, there is some method to their madness. You pay a lower-than-average one-time fee for a lifetime membership, which is nonrefundable. It's supposed to be a limited time offer, so some folks might be happy to get in the proverbial ground floor.

You can read some FAQs to give you some more info about the site's services, like recording audio and video for your profile. You can also link to YouTube to further enhance your description. Profiles are approved if they meet some rather standard guidelines. The site simply asks that you post tasteful descriptions and photos.

You will be asked a good slew of questions that - beyond fleshing out your basic traits and characteristics - should give people a good sense of your personality, which comes into play with Lovetropolis's matchmaking system. You can choose to go with the matches it makes or simply browse profiles on your own. There are local search options and some last login info on results. Members active within a given week show their last login time down to the hour.

According to our independent source, this site doesn't do so well at attracting visitors to its pages. However, there are a healthy number of existing members. The low price certainly makes it enticing to try the site out. In fact, Lovetropolis is so affordable that you really can't go wrong, whether your stay is brief or long.
